Ever imagined having a beautiful little house on wheels? Now it’s possible for you to rent a home that can be moved easily from one place to another. Welcome to the world of park model homes! Also known as Park Model RVs (Recreational Vehicles), they are built on a single chassis.

The park model homes are mounted on wheels and their overall space doesn’t usually exceed 400 square feet. Such homes are built in compliance with the housing standards of American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Despite following more lenient housing standards, they fall under the category of ‘tiny homes’.

You might not like to see the wheels ruining the elegant look of these little homes. Well, you don’t need to worry as the wheels can either be kept hidden or removed entirely. One of the highly effective methods used to hide the wheels of park model homes is cement board skirting.

How and why such homes are used

There are many benefits of skirting for such mobile homes besides hiding the wheels. It acts as a barrier to prevent the pipes from freezing and helps in retaining heat during winters. Skirting also protects such homes from critters and gives them a finished look.

Park model homes are used mainly as seasonal homes for camping or planned tours. However, there are some who use them as full-time residential homes. This has been made possible with the availability of enhanced structural integrity and skilled craftsmanship. Besides, such homes have all facilities available for great outdoor living.

The idea is to have a small home with all the things that they like the most. Some of the park model homes are also provided with excellent modern amenities. They include an in-ground swimming pool, yoga section, and a fitness gym.

Features

Such homes usually have a living room, master bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a deck or a porch. Most of the park model homes are built using materials of high quality that require less maintenance. These are the materials that you’ll normally find in the luxury homes. Interiors are created using hardwood, granite, and stainless-steel.

You’ll also find some of these homes with enhancements for outdoor living. They include pet enclosures, covered decks and porches, and lush landscaping. Despite being movable, such homes can withstand extreme climatic conditions, such as strong winds, heavy rain, and snowfall.

People who rent park model homes

The park model homes are rented by all kinds of people according to their needs. Among them are the baby-boomers, who’ve already retired or are planning to retire. They are the ones who usually go for longer periods of stay outdoors.

As their children have become responsible adults, they are free from all responsibilities. Many of these baby-boomers have lived most of their lives in larger homes. So, they might be looking for a change, which involves staying in a smaller home. They obviously need a comfortable home, but still wish to have a smaller space.

Then comes the second kind of people who are Gen X’ers. Such individuals are the ones born between 1965 and 1975. While their kids may still be in college, they might be planning a short vacation or camping trip.

Those belonging to Gen Y also rent park model homes while on a planned vacation with their family. It presents them and their kids the opportunity to experience quality living in smaller spaces.
